Steve Carillo’s Bio

Steve has considerable experience training a number of working dog breeds. These would include Rottweilers, bouvier des flandres, German shepherd, American Pitbulls, Malinois, Dutch Shepherds, Dobermans and many others.

In 1996 Steve began to train civilian dogs in obedience and agility. He also had his own kennel where he trained and sold Police K-9s to law enforcement agencies.

From 1991 to 2001 he was the K-9 trainer for the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office which consisted of 18 K-9 teams at its peak. In 1992 he became the K-9 trainer for the Lodi Police Department until 2002 at which time he became the unit Supervisor.

“After all of these years I still feel that I learn something each time I talk to an active canine handler. One thing that I still believe in is basic canine training (obedience control). Dogs should bite when they are told, release on command, and find the hidden suspect. These are the fundamentals that build great and successful teams” Said Steve Carillo.
