Statesville Police Department in North Carolina announces they will be purchasing a dual-purpose canine from Vigilant Canine Services International. The story broke just a few days ago. The Statesville Police needed to fill a vacancy of one of its canines who developed severe spinal problems and had to be euthanized.
According to Chief Anderson, dual-purpose canines are predominantly used at night to locate those suspected of committing violent crimes, to search crime scenes, and to apprehend offenders.
Statesville requires at least two-dual purpose canines to provide those services 365 days a year. The city is now poised, using drug seizure money, to buy a dual-purpose dog from Vigilant Canine Services International, based in Los Molinos, Ca. The price includes a five-week local training course.
Chief Anderson went on to say “The purchase of the dual-purpose canine will benefit the department and community, at no cost to the taxpaying citizens of Statesville,”
Vigilant Canine Services International is proud to be able to provide the Statesville Police Department with a quality canine and world class training. It is our goal to make the highest level of canine services more accessible to law enforcement agencies all over the United States.
