November 19th, 2011
Shasta County Sheriff’s Office and VCSi will be sponsoring the Search and Rescue (SAR) Canine Legal Update course presented by Terry Fleck. SAR legal update courses are rare and this one is being presented by the absolute best in the business. Mr. Fleck will be retiring from presenting courses and teaching at conferences at the end of this year. This will be your last opportunity to attend his Search and Rescue Canine Legal Update course in California. Please take this advantage of Mr. Fleck’s tremendous knowledge of canine legalities and tactics. This will be a course that you will not want to miss.
Terry Fleck is a deputy sheriff and canine handler (retired) and author of the Canine Legal Update and Opinions for supervisors and administrators plus patrol, narcotic and contraband, explosives, tracking, search and rescue and accelerant dog teams. Mr. Fleck has taught seminars nationwide to over 25,000 students. Mr. Fleck has been praised for reducing canine unit liability and increasing K-9 officer safety, this seminar has been updated to include the latest legal information pertaining to the canine industry.
Unlike the police service dog industry, where K-9 handlers are taught the legalities of police K-9, little education exists in the volunteer (non-compensated) SAR dog industry. As volunteer SAR dog handlers have recently found out, the court system does not differentiate between a volunteer SAR dog handler and a full time police K-9 handler. In fact, police K-9 case law has been used and applied to SAR K-9 in court.
The Search and Rescue (SAR) Canine Legal Update and Opinions Seminar will focus on the legal issues of search and rescue canine.
